Hi my name is Katie and I have been an artist ever since I was able to pick up a crayon or marker to draw something. I've taken on many roles as an artist and have enjoyed every medium I've touched from hands on painting, to the digital world of graphic design and web development and even had a successful hand-made jewelry business. My most recent venture is restoring old furniture pieces to look new again. To me painting is equivalent of having a day at the spa. I enjoy it that much! I hope you find what we do here inspiring and you come across something you love!
Hi Folks! I'm glad to be able to present what we currently have for a website. This is now the second go around with the site...my hosting provider had crashed and lost all data when I first created the site. Sigh...a lot of hours lost but happy that I've been able to get it back up and running...again. There's still a lot that still needs to be done that will require a tremendous amount of time such as the online shop...but we'll get there! I'm excited to be filling our online store with products and our own creations. (which is currently filled with nothing) I will be looking for vendors to be adding to both our online store and storefront once we are opened. We are focused on paint & refinishing but would love to add in a mixture of quality hand crafted goods with a unique look that matches what we are about.
As you can see there are many areas/pages of this site that are still under construction but will be up and running before long. I'm only one person here trying to get it all together...I appreciate all the patience with that. I anxious to be putting my limited photography skills to the test and getting images of our most recent finds. There are some really awesome pieces that are screaming to be made over.
Look forward to sharing more and more as we complete each step along the way.
Hope everyone is having a wonderful Christmas Holiday Season.
Much Love!
From the Moores to Yours! =)
We're happy to announce that we will soon have a large storefront brick and mortar building in the near future! We will be located right across from the Baseball Stadium on River Drive and right next to the Centennial Bridge on and of ramp. (More details to come.) We've been spending the last few months stocking up on items as we come across them. Let's put it this way I'm not able to park in my garage because we're too full of furniture pieces. Our store will have a workshop area, area for classes and of course our retail front where we showcase our goods.
In the sneak peak photo above you can see there is a lot of work to be done but we are absolutely in love with the bones of this building and all it's character. We hope that you'll enjoy the space as much as we do when it comes to our grand opening.
In the mean time I've been learning new techniques to teach and use on my furniture pieces. We will also be looking for vendors and specialty items to sell as well as the items we custom create. I will also be selling my custom hand stamped jewelry pieces by Lil Miss Katie's, LLC here. Between refurnishing furniture and custom jewelry creations...I'll be busy around the clock I'm sure.
Stay tuned as we will be posting more updates and details about our place here. There are a lot of big plans for this place...so more news to come as we proceed with letting you know as they come about.

When I came across this piece I knew I had to have it. I'm finding that I'm already able to visualize a piece finished when wadding through all the ugly ducklings. Although even with my vision I still had to first do a search to confirm what I was clearly seeing for the piece. Once I saw it I knew I had all the confirmation I need to go all in. I was eager to jump in and get messy.
Like I've said many times before painting is relaxing for me...I enjoy it so much. The instant gratification of a transforming piece to the rhythmic flow of a paint brush...it's how I like to spend a morning or afternoon. I was so excited to get started!
Here are some of the images that helped inspire my vision for my table. I instantly confirmed I wanted it to be White Chalk Paint with a dark varnished top. Don't know about chalk paint...read more about it here.
Below is what I kept seeing that put the confidence in me that this table was capable of becoming a beaut from a brute.
Here is she is before I started. Yes for once I remembered to take a picture! I'm getting better at this and I even used my NICE camera and kept my iPhone to the side. I'm so proud of me. :)
A lot of her character was easy to see with the details on her front doors even the the rest of her was a sight for sore eyes. She just needed some TLC and I knew she'd be a simple fix and really bring out her charm was so easy to do. A couple layers of my chalk paint mixture and lightly sanded edges she was all sudden light and airy and chic. The longest process was sanding down the top and re-varnishing a dark finish for a nice classic contrast of light and dark.
And Voala Here She is...FINISHED!
Not too Shabby...Shabby Chic that is...ok...I'll promise to knock off the corny puns just as soon as I get off and going on another piece. I'm debating if I want to still add to this piece...I'm thinking of adding some antiqued glaze to this bright chalking white finish...but for now I'm undecided. I'll update pictures of it if I end up doing this.
