Lil Miss

Hi my name is Katie and I have been an artist ever since I was able to pick up a crayon or marker to draw something. I've taken on many roles as an artist and have enjoyed every medium I've touched from hands on painting, to the digital world of graphic design and web development and even had a successful hand-made jewelry business. My most recent venture is restoring old furniture pieces to look new again. To me painting is equivalent of having a day at the spa. I enjoy it that much! I hope you find what we do here inspiring and you come across something  you love!

Mudpaint was created by a husband and wife team of furniture painters who were looking to create a vintage furniture paint with better coverage and texture than those available on the market.

After a year of testing, modifying and reworking the paint formula, we have created a furniture paint that has the perfect finish for antiquing and aging painted furniture.

This paint has a matte, smooth finish that is perfect for antiquing and distressing. The coverage of this paint is excellent. It goes so far! The paint is also very durable.

FAQ’s

Do I Need to Prime the Furniture Piece First?

It depends on the surface of the furniture piece. For most furniture surfaces that have been thoroughly cleaned and lightly sanded, you will not need a coat of primer. However if the surface is slick, shiny or smooth, you may want to prime the surface before you paint it to ensure that the paint adheres well.

How Many Furniture Pieces Can I Expect to Be Able To Paint From 1 Quart of Paint?

Depending on the size of the pieces and whether or not the surface was primed, a good estimate would be 2-5 furniture pieces or more from one quart of paint.

What Can I Apply The Paint With?

You can apply the paint with a brush, roller or even a paint sprayer (thin with water first).

How Many Coats Do I Need to Apply?

If you plan to distress and antique the piece, you may be able to do only 1 coat of paint. If you want a thicker more durable surface on your piece, we would recommend 2 coats.

MudPaint is Really Thick, is That Normal?

Yes, MudPaint thickens over time, even after a few hours of sitting.  To get it to a pourable state, just stir it well, if you would like it thinner than that, try adding a tablespoon or two of water and stir some more.

How Much Drying Time Should I Allow Between Coats of Paint?

We recommend waiting until the first coat of paint is fully dry before painting a 2nd coat.  After the 2nd coat of paint, we recommend waiting 24 hours before applying furniture wax.

What Do You Recommend as a Clear Coat?

We use Johnson’s Furniture Wax as a clear coat for protection, but any decent furniture wax will do.  We are working on our own furniture wax, but it is not available for sale yet.

What is Your Return Policy?

30 Day Return Policy – If for any reason you are unsatisfied with the paint, please return the unused portion of the paint to us.  Please explain the reason for the request for a refund and we will happily refund 100% of the cost of the paint to you.
